"The Spirea Anthony Waterer, `Spiraea x bumalda,' is a deciduous shrub with wine-red to maroon foliage that will mature to a dark green color in the fall. It produces flat-topped heads of rose pink flower, which cover the top of this dwarf shrub in the spring. The new growth is a reddish-purple color and very attractive. This relatively short plant is most commonly used in the foreground of shrub borders."
