"The Austrian Pine, `Pinus nigra,' is an evergreen conifer that will thrive in urban locations. The densely branched tree produces long, dark green needles. Its spreading branches will from a pyramidal shape when young. As the tree matures, however, it will often achieve a picturesque flat-topped head. The Austrian Pine will also make a good choice for a thick screen or windbreak in more rural settings. Starting with a two year old seeding in a good site, it should reach about five feet in only six to seven years."
