Bald Cypress

Taxodium distichum
"The Bald Cypress, `Taxodium distichum,' is a stately tree that is commonly grown in parks or yards. This is a lofty, deciduous conifer that exhibits a slender, pyramidal shape. Bald Cypress trees have moderate water requirements, and are often grown in wet areas by landscapers and landowners. The needle-shaped leaves are dark green in the spring and summer. This plant will only produce its ""knees"" when grown either in or around water for most of the year. The Bald Cypress can thrive in many types of soil and is very adaptable to both wet and dry sites."
