It is a spring planted herbaceous root, and it will produce gorgeous mixed colored flowers. Its glossy foliage is brilliant and perfectly complements the flowers. It is very late in breaking out of the ground in the spring, so care should be taken with early spring cultivation. This plant is very easy to grow and will do best in a slightly shaded area of the garden. It should be planted in a well draining soil that is high in organic matter."
