"The Astilbe Bridal Veil, `Astilbe arendsii,' is a very colorful and feather flower. Its white blooms stand out nicely on the lacy deep green on bronze green foliage. They bloom in mid summer, and are nearly three feet tall with a mature width of three feet. In order to ensure a beautiful and healthy plant the following year, they should not be cut back in the winter, but pruned in the early spring. The old foliage will help protect the plants from winter damage. This plant is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds."
