Burgess Winter Buttercup Squash

Cucurbita maxima
"The Winter Squash Burgess Buttercup, `Cucurbita maxima,' features very sweet, string-less and fiber-less flesh. This is arguably the best tasting and flavorful winter squash. The vegetable will be able to store for several months. The four-pound squashes are five to eight inches in diameter and are produced on a six-foot vine. The squashes should be harvested when the skin has become tough and cannot be dented with your finger. One good trait about winter squashes is that although they can be under-ripe, they will never be overripe."
