"The Tomato Burpee Big Boy, `Lycopersicon lycopersicum,' is a vigorous plant that has heavy foliage and produces large fruits. This plant is a long time best seller with firm, smooth fruits of an excellent quality with great flavor to boot. Introduced in 1949, the Burpee Big Boy is incredibly productive and produces perfect fruits. The soil should be well drained and high in organic matter. In warmer regions, tomatoes can be planted in early fall for a harvest in the winter. When watering, the soil should be soaked to a depth of six to ten inches. The plants require at least six hours of direct sunlight every day."
