Cephalanthus occidentalis "The Buttonbush, `Cephalanthus occidentalis,' has a very open, almost gangly habit. It is a rounded, six to eight foot shrub that will occasionally reach up to twelve feet in height. The flowers are very unusual. They are a creamy-white color on spherical heads, just over an inch long, and resemble a ball with hundreds of pins stuck in it. The plants prefer moist locations, and are best when used for naturalizing in wet areas. They are native to a majority of North America, excluding the Pacific Northwest." The Zumi Crabapple Tree, `Malux x Zumi Calocarpa,' is a semi-dwarf crabapple that may be used as a street tree. It is most valued for its profuse, spring flowering of fragrant, white blooms and its small, glossy, bright red fruit. The crabapples will mature in the autumn, and likely persist into December. It is very effective when planted as a background for other early flowering plants. It is also commonly grown near fences, in groups as a screen or as a specimen planting in a lawn or patio.
The Red Delicious is the most widely grown variety of apple in the entire world. It is also one of America's favorite for snacking. Red Delicious apples have a very firm, creamy white flesh, and are juicy, aromatic and very sweet. The fruit is heart shaped and generally bright red in color, but often exhibits some red striping. These apples can keep fresh for a very long time, and are found all year in stores. They also look great for extended periods when left out, and thus are the favored choice for holiday decorations and wreaths.
The Angel Face Rose is a garden variety of rose that has a very well balanced Old Rose scent. An AARS winner in 1969, Angel Face plants are beautiful with their ruffled lavender pink blossoms and beautiful buds. The blooms make magnificent cut flowers. The somewhat short plants only reach a height of two to three feet.
