Cherokee Purple Tomato

Lycopersicon lycopersicum
"The Tomato Pole Cherokee Purple, `Lycopersicon lycopersicum,' produces multitudes of ten to twelve once tomatoes that feature a strong tomato flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. This Heirloom variety comes from Tennessee, and is very productive. The flesh of the tomatoes is a unique red brick color, with a rose/purple skin. They require at least one inch of water weekly, and should be soaked to a depth of six to ten inches when watering. This variety requires at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. These plants should be pruned in order to keep a single stem."
