"The Spirea Darts Red, `Spiraea bumalda,' has a very dense appearance with iths thin branches and thick foliage. This deciduous semi-evergreen shrub is low growing and has a rounded shape. Its young leaves are pinkish red in color and will fade to dark green at maturity. Spireas are distinguished by the size, bloom color and season of bloom. They all have small leaves that grow on fine, twiggy branches. The shrubs also become very drought tolerant once they are established."
