"The Ebony Spleenwort Fen, `Asplenium platyneuron,' is an evergreen variety of fern and typically grows to fifteen inches tall. It occurs naturally on rocky wooded ledges, rocky slopes and mossy banks. This fern should be planted in dry, rocky, shady areas of rock gardens, and will even grow in rocky crevices. It can also be planted in native plant garden or woodland areas. The most ideal planting would be in an area that is shaded and rich in leaf mulch. The Ebony Spleenwort Fern is very attractive when planted with wildflowers."
