False Indigo Indigo Bush

"The False Indigo Bush, `Amorpha fruticosa,' features fragrant foliage that has the compound pinnate leaf form that is most typical of the Pea family. This is a somewhat leggy shrub that can range in height from six to twenty feet and in width from five to fifteen feet. It is often bushiest on its upper third. The third-inch wide flowers are purple-blue in color with orange anthers, and grow on three to six inch upright spikes. They are most commonly grown as a large shrub or small tree in locations that have plenty of water. Native to the western half of the United States, the False Indigo Bush will easily attract butterflies."
