Heavenly Bamboo

Nadina domestica
"The Heavenly Bamboo, `Nadina domestica,' is a very tough plant that will thrive in full sunlight or shade, and moist or dry conditions. This is not a true bamboo. Instead, it is an upright, six to eight foot tall, semi-evergreen shrub that tends to slowly sucker at its base, forming colonies. When grown in full sunlight, it typically attains a reddish tint in the winter months. Canes do not branch out, so be careful when pruning to thin out old stems every year or head back old canes a varying lengths to produce a denser plant. Once they are established, they require little to no care."
