"The Heritage Red Raspberry, `Rubus idaeus,' is the classic variety of raspberry. This spring planted herbaceous root produces firm fruits that have a sweet flavor. The medium sized berries also have a good freezing quality. In order to encourage the best plant growth, water should be applied regularly. During the winter, cut back to plants to about five canes per crown. They should be planted in full sunlight in any rich, well draining soil."
