"The Heritage River Birch Tree, `Betula nigra,' is a faster growing variety with larger, glossier leaves than other species. It is also less prone to leaf spot. This is the most prominent of all the various cultivars of River Birch trees. Its bark will exfoliate younger and open to a lighter, salmon-colored trunk. This is a handsome tree even without its leaves, due to its graceful silhouette and exfoliating bark. Its exposed inner bark is gray-brown to cinnamon-brown or reddish-brown."
