"The Lilac Lames MacFarlane, `Syringa presoniae,' is an upright growing shrub that is extremely hardy and adaptable, and will withstand moisture levels that are often fatal to vulgaris hybrids of lilac bush. This variety will also bloom two weeks later than these vulgaris hybrids. The true single pink flowers will bloom freely, and the large clusters of the scented flowers will bloom in May and June and will attract butterflies. Lilac bushes should always be grown in fertile, humus-rich and well draining soils."
