"The Lacebark Elm Tree, `Ulmus parvifolia,' is a very hardy and tough deciduous shade tree. It is a great tree for urban conditions because it is capable of withstanding harsh climates, poor soil and air pollution. Its gray bark will start to exfoliate and peel off in small patches as the trunk matures. This will result in a patchwork of mottled colors beneath, including green, orange, brown and gray. The Lacebark Elm tree is a great selection to use as a street tree."
