"The London Sycamore Tree, `Platanus acerifolia,' exhibits a pyramidal form in youth, and will spread out to a rounded crown as it matures. A few very large diameter branches will support it. This is a large tree, and will reach a height of eighty-five feet with a spread of up to seventy feet. Its bark will appear patchy and very attractive, and is possibly the most ornamental quality of this tree. This large tree will be able to provide plenty of good shade for any park planting. The easily transplanted London Sycamore will grow well in most soils, but prefers a deep, rich soil."
