"The Hydrangea Shamrock, `Hydrangea macrophylla,' is a wonderful new variety of hydrangea. It is much more delicate and refined than other varieties of mophead hydrangea. This Proven Winners selection will begin to bloom in July. Its flower will be either pink or blue, depending on the pH level of the soil. As the season progresses, these flowers will slowly darken into a rich red or violet. This variety is more compact than others, and the bloom period is somewhat longer. Shamrock should be planted in a moist, well draining soil."
