"The Snowmound Spirea, `Spirea nipponica,' is perfect for use as a foundation plant, in any shrub border or planted directly into a garden. It is an excellent dwarf shrub, and produces dense, dark green foliage and masses of its pure white flowers in May. If shaping is needed, prune then in the early spring before growth starts, and then again after the flowering period is finished. It prefers full sunlight to partial shade, and does best in well draining soil with moderate to high levels of moisture. Older stems should be pruned to the ground to thin out and rejuvenate older plants."
