"The Quince Texas Scarlet Flowering, `Chaenomeles x Texas Scarlet,' displays its glossy green foliage that appears immediately after the profuse red flowers cover the plant in the spring. This is one of the first shrubs to flower in the spring. It is most commonly used as a specimen plant, but also works well in borders, in barriers, as a hedge or for attracting wildlife. Its yellow-green fruits are apple-like and attract birds and animals. The blooms will also make good cut flowers for floral arrangements."
