Thumbelina Carrot

Daucus carota var staivus (hybrid)

"The Carrot Thumbelina, `Daucus carota var. staivus,' was an All America Winner in 1992, and has a magnificent, very sweet flavor. This small round gourmet carrot will grow great in heavy soils and pots. Its small stature allows it to grow in shallow, clay soils. The most important factor to know when growing carrots is to have a deep, well draining soil that is free of clods and rocks. They grow best in a soil that is mixed with fifty percent peat moss, and good moisture is essential to healthy growth."
