Tobasco Greenleaf Chile Pepper

Capsicum frutescens
"The Pepper Chile Tabasco Greenleaf, `Capsicum frutescens,' is commonly used for sauce and either dried or fresh in spicy Asian, Cajun or Creole dishes. This is a very hot pepper that features a uniquely smoky flavor. The disease resistant plants have been used in the famous Tabasco sauce for over 130 years. The 1.5-inch long pods are yellow and mature to read. Peppers require a lot of water to grow, but should be watered deeply as opposed to often. When harvesting these peppers, always wear gloves and be sure to wash your hands immediately after handling them."
