"The liantris Violet, `Laitris spicata,' produces fantastic violet flowers that grow on tall stems. This spring planted tuberous root is also commonly referred to as Blazing Star or Gayfeathers. It is a popular perennial due to its long-lasting flowers. The plants are fairly drought tolerant, but will not be able to survive in a soggy location. The flowers are attractive to butterflies."
