"The Cleome Violet Queen, `Cleome spinosa,' is very easy to grow and will lend authority to any garden. Its fluffy flower clusters are three to six inches across, and are a deep violet color. This is a knockout plant that will easily attract butterflies. Its flowers and dry seed capsules look great in flower arrangements. Cleome plants bloom from late July until the first fall frost, and can be hardy if grown in a protected site. They can add strong vertical impact in island beds, replacing trees or shrubs. Violet Queen should be planted in full sunlight for best results."
