"The Astilbe Visions, `Astilbe chinensis,' is a very colorful and feather flower. Its raspberry blooms stand out nicely on the lacy blue green foliage. They bloom in mid summer, and are around one foot tall with a mature width of up to two feet. In order to ensure a beautiful and healthy plant the following year, they should not be cut back in the winter, but pruned in the early spring. The old foliage will help protect the plants from winter damage. This plant is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds."
